Autumn Lectures 2024 – Questions for our time
This year’s lecture series jointly organised by Morningside and Greenbank will be held in Greenbank Parish Church this year. 6.30pm refreshments, 7pm the lectures commence. The theme will be, “Questions for our Time.” Entry by donation. The lectures will be livestreamed and available on the churches’ websites.
8th September: The Justice Call – Joy Gillespie is CEO of the Survivors of Human Trafficking in Scotland organisation and will give an update on the plight of those being traffkicked into our country.
15th September: Assisted Dying – the Revd Dr Liam Fraser, Convener of the General Assembly Theological Forum, will give a lecture on this recurring and emotive topic.
22nd September: Searching for Renewal in the Mainstream Church – the Revd Neil Glover, minister of a Highland Perthshire Church and Convener of the Seeds for Growth Fund will pose some challenging questions about the future of the Church of Scotland.
Two or three volunteers to help with stewarding and serving refreshments for each of the three evenings would be helpful. Please contact the Minister if you can help.
Neil Glover has recently published a book, Finding our Voice – searching for renewal in the mainline church which is well worth reading. (Saint Andrew Press, £19.99)
