Our minister at the General Assembly; and ‘Word of Life’ photo
On Saturday 20th May, our Minister, Revd. Dr. Derek Browning, was installed as Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, in the presence of the Princess Royal, representing the Queen. Many of our congregation were in the gallery to watch and support Derek as he takes up his new role. In this month’s magazine, our locum minister, Andrew McLellan, Moderator 2000-2001, writes, ‘For Derek Browning, no year of his ministry will compare with the year which begins on 20th May ….within that year, no week will compare with the first week. Within that week, no day will compare with the first day.’ (see our May magazine for the complete article).
This year, the Assembly’s chosen theme is ‘Word of Life’, and with many other congregations, we sent in a photo to the Church of Scotland – see below! Find photos from churches and groups around Scotland at https://www.facebook.com/pg/churchofscotland/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1642733585751802
Although it’s hugely interesting to be present in the Assembly Hall and watch and listen live, you can also enjoy the opening ceremonies and the rest of the proceedings from the comfort of your home, via the live webcast on the Church of Scotland website.
